Apache Cross Country Invitational - October 28, 2010
Save the date! The Apache Cross Country Invitational will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Arcadia County Park.
Come join us for some “FAST TIMES at ARCADIA HIGH”!
If you’re like us at Arcadia High, you get close to the end of your cross country season and realize that all of the flat, fast courses were run early on, before we had really rounded into top form. I was always interested in knowing how good we were before League Finals and CIF. So, I created this Invitational on our home course, which happens to be flat and “lightning fast.”
The good thing about our course is that it is gentle on the legs, being predominantly on grass. Your athlete’s should get a fast time and a good confidence booster without taking a toll on their bodies. The course is a three-loop Hour Glass layout. It’s easy for coaches to monitor, and spectators see the runners pass by 7 times without moving a step.
Another consideration was scheduling, one week or more ahead of league finals. This allows for a proper taper as we head into “championship” meets. This mid-week meet begins at 2:00pm.
We are planning on having Robek’s juices as a major sponsor, and we will also have quality T-shirts available for sale ($10). There will be an ample supply of awards and medals for your teams and individuals.
The winning boys team in 2009 (St John Bosco), set a new all-time course record of 74:35 – an average of better than 15:00 per man! Some of the best teams in Southern California have been invited.
Please let us know as soon as possible if your team would like to enter.
